September 24, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) closed higher on the back of broad-based buying interest, lifting its market capitalisation by N622.51bn.
Market capitalisation rose from N163.06tn at the open to N163.68tn at the close, representing a 0.38 percent increase.
The All-Share Index (ASI) also advanced by 958.99 points, rising from 251,191.02 points to 252,150.01 points.
The session recorded 28 gainers against 24 decliners, indicating a positive market breadth as investors continued to take positions across selected stocks.
Top five gainers for the session.
- CMFC emerged as the day’s biggest gainer, rising 10 percent (from N2.70 to N2.97).
- RTBRISCOE followed with a 9.55 percent gain (moving from N8.90 to N9.75)
- CAVERTON advanced 8.75 percent (from N4.00 to N4.35).
- NAHCO gained 8.57 percent (to close at N152 from N140).
- LINKASSURE rose 7.36 percent (from N1.63 to N1.75).

Top decliners for the session
- On the decliners’ list, NEIMETH led the losses, falling 7.23 percent (from N8.30 to N7.70).
- ELLAHLAKES declined 5.33 percent (from N8.45 to N8.00).
- MBENEFIT dropped 4.65 percent (from N3.44 to N3.28).
- LASACO fell 4.44 percent (from N1.80 to N1.72).
- WEMABANK declined 3.93 percent (from N31.80 to N30.55).
Trading activity was also concentrated around several large and actively traded stocks, with First HoldCo, Dangote Cement, HBM Nigeria, Custodian Investment, Julius Berger and Golden Guinea Brewery among the notable names on the trading floor.
The positive close extends the recent upward movement in the equities market, with investors continuing to balance opportunities in fundamentally strong stocks against profit-taking in counters that have recorded recent gains.
