September 10, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) closed Thursday’s session on a mildly positive note, as the All-Share Index (ASI) edged higher despite a largely mixed market breadth, with 23 gainers against 30 decliners.
Market capitalisation rose from N157.049 trillion at the opening to N157.150 trillion at the close, representing a N101 billion increase.
The ASI also advanced by 155.03 points, from 242,223.10 to 242,378.13, translating to a 0.06 percent gain.
The marginal improvement suggests a cautious session, with gains in major stocks such as Seplat Energy and Access Holdings helping to lift the benchmark despite notable declines across several equities.

Among the stocks that recorded no price movement during the session were FirstHoldCo, MTN Nigeria Communications, Dangote Cement, Custodian Investment and BUA Foods, alongside other flat stocks.
Overall, Thursday’s session reflected a cautious market, with the benchmark index posting a modest gain despite more stocks declining than advancing.
The narrow rise in the ASI and N101 billion increase in market capitalisation indicate that gains in selected heavyweight stocks were sufficient to keep the broader market marginally positive.
