June 01, (THEWILL) –Â Brazil cruised to a 5-1 friendly win over South Korea in Seoul on Thursday, with Neymar scoring two penalties.
South Korean star, Son Heung-min, had encouraged his teammates to be fearless against the world’s top-ranked team, but Tite’s players dominated them for much of the game.
Brazil took the lead in the seventh minute thanks to a scrappy Richarlison goal, and while the hosts did equalise through Hwang Ui-jo, additional Brazil goals seemed unavoidable given their domination.
Alex Sandro was instrumental in putting Brazil back ahead, winning two penalties either side of halftime, with Neymar outwitting the goalie on both occasions to put the game beyond South Korea before substitutes Philippe Coutinho and Gabriel Jesus, completed the onslaught.
It was an encouraging glimpse of what Brazil could deliver at the World Cup, albeit they will need to beat better opponents than South Korea to win Qatar 2022. Brazil will remain in the region for a few days ahead of facing Japan in Tokyo on Monday.
