November 14, (THEWILL) – Brazil and Al-Hilal forward Neymar is progressing well in his recovery from knee surgery but there is still no set date for his return, according to national team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar.
Neymar underwent surgery earlier this month after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus in his left knee while on international duty last month. Lasmar, who performed the surgery, said that the 31-year-old is responding “very well” to rehabilitation so far.
However, the doctor stressed that the recovery process will be a long one for Neymar, who must be patient and focus on following the guidance of the medical staff. Lasmar declined to give a specific timeframe for Neymar’s return, citing the complex nature of the injury.
Neymar moved to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal in August after leaving Paris St Germain but was limited to just five appearances for his new club due to muscle problems before the season-ending knee injury.
Brazil sit third in South American World Cup qualifying ahead of key matches against Colombia on Thursday and table-topping Argentina next week.
