January 01, (THEWILL) – Manchester United’s loan deal for goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has been cut short by the goalkeeper’s parent club Newcastle United, who have recalled the Slovakia international.
THEWILL recalls that Dubravka joined United in September to provide competition for first-choice goalkeeper David de Gea, but made just two appearances, both of which were in the EFL Cup.
The goalie has not featured on the substitutes’ bench in the Premier League in the past two games and has now returned to Newcastle, where he is expected to serve as backup to Nick Pope.
Dubravka has made 130 appearances for Newcastle since joining from Sparta Prague in 2018 and was voted the club’s Player of the Year in the 2019/2020 season.
