BEVERLY HILLS, March 05, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari has decorated the four new service chiefs at an event held in the Council Chamber at the State House in Abuja.
Each officer in the quartet was also promoted and adorned with a new rank.
Decorated were Major General Lucky Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff, adorned with the rank of a full General, and Major-General Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff elevated to the rank of Lieutenant-General.
Also, the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo was decorated as Vice Admiral, while the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Ishiaka Oladayo Amao climbed to the rank of Air Marshal.
The decoration of the new service chiefs came after the National Assembly confirmed their appointment.
Senate President Ahmad Lawan during the confirmation last week had advised them to take the fight to the terrorists and bandits and dislodge them from their enclaves.
He reminded them to be conscious of the fact that Nigerians expected a lot from them to address the security problems confronting the country.
