August 31, (THEWILL) – The newly formed Interim Management Committee of Wikki Tourists FC has been tasked with transforming the fortunes of the club from liability to profitability.
The charge was issued by the State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Salees Gamawa, during the inauguration of the Committee at his office. He stated that the members were selected based on their proven track records in promoting football in the state.
“This move underscores the government’s commitment to revitalise and strengthen the operations of the state’s treasured football institution,” said Mr Gamawa. He added that the interim management team comprises highly skilled and dedicated professionals, each bringing valuable expertise in various football management areas.
The Sports Commissioner expressed confidence that their collective abilities are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the club’s future endeavours, from player development to administrative efficiency.
He emphasised, “Wikki Tourists FC has a rich history and legacy that has contributed to the state’s sports culture for years. With the state government’s backing and the newly appointed interim management, the club is poised to embark on a journey of rejuvenation and growth.” He stated that Governor Bala Mohammed was eager to see the strides the Interim Management will take to enhance the club’s performance, nurture young talent, and promote sportsmanship and community engagement.
