February 10, (THEWILL) – The 2023 NBA trade deadline saw a flurry of activities as multiple superstar players changed teams ahead of the Thursday deadline. Notable players such as Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, were among those who landed on new teams.
In a blockbuster deal, former Brooklyn Nets star Irving was traded to the Dallas Mavericks for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, a 2029 first-round pick, and two second-round picks in 2027 and 2029. Irving made a strong debut with the Mavericks, scoring 24 points, five assists, four rebounds, and a steal in a 110-104 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Lakers also made a big move, trading Westbrook to the Utah Jazz in a three-team deal that involved the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Lakers acquired D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, and Jarred Vanderbilt, while Westbrook, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Damian Jones, and a first-round pick went to the Jazz.
The Timberwolves received Mike Conley Jr., Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and second-round pick compensation, as well as additional second-round picks in 2024, 2025, and 2026. The Nets continued their busy trade deadline by shipping Durant to the Phoenix Suns. The Suns also acquired T.J. Warren, while giving up Mikal Bridges, Jae Crowder, Cam Johnson, four first-round picks, and additional draft compensation.
The Nets later sent Crowder to the Milwaukee Bucks in a three-team deal with the Pacers. While the trade deadline has passed, there could still be buyouts and free-agent signings in the coming days
