September 26, (THEWILL) – New dates have been announced for the 21st National Sports Festival, which was previously slated to run from November 2 to 15.

The updated dates were announced in a letter sent by the NSF Main Organising Committee to the Commissioner and Directors of Sports in the federation. The letter states that Delta State will now host the 2022 NSF from November 28 through December 10 instead.

The pace of current construction projects at several facilities that will hold activities during the Games, as stated in the memo signed by the MOC Secretary, Peter Nelson, has made the short postponement necessary.

Mr Nelson finished the letter sent to the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory by noting: “While thanking you for your cooperation, please accept the sporting regard of the Chairman Main organising committee (MOC).”

The NSF has recently seen a series of postponements. THEWILL recalls that the last one hosted in Edo State was delayed four times, due to the ravages of the COVID-19 pandemic, before ultimately taking place between April 4 and 15, last year, a whole year after the initial scheduled date.
