BEVERLY HILLS, June 11, (THEWILL) – Attention has shifted from the Senate to the House of Representatives as the inauguration of the 9th Senate continues.
The day had started at the upper chamber with the roll call, nomination and election of a Senate President and a deputy.
Senator Ahmed Lawan and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege were elected as Senate President and Deputy Senate President respectively.
Following their swearing-in, the Clerk of the National Assembly, Mohammed Sani-Omolori, left for the lower house of the National Assembly.
The atmosphere was charged as the lawmakers-elect were already waiting and were chanting names of their favourite candidates to lead them.
The Clerk is taking the roll call of the 360 lawmakers-elect and would proceed to elections thereafter.
