SAN FRANCISCO, February 17, (THEWILL) – Chibuike Amaechi, Minister of Transportation, has appointed an acting Managing Director for the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) as top management of the agency are still with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) facing questions following a raid last Friday.
Amaechi, according to a news report by Nigerianflightdeck.com, paid an unscheduled visit to NAMA on Tuesday and had a closed-door meeting with the directors of the agency where Emmanuel Anasi, Director, Engineering, was told to act in the stead of Managing Director, Ibrahim Abdulsalam, who is being grilled by the EFCC.
Meanwhile, staff of the agency say they are oblivious of the directive by the minister for Anasi to act, claiming there has been no official communication to that effect but once that is established everyone will fall in line.
The website said the Managing Director is being questioned at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja alongside Clara Aliche, Director of Finance and Accounts, Muyiwa Adegorite, Acting Director of Procurement, Nurudeen Segun Agbolade, General Manager (Finance), and Felicia Agubata, Project Manager. The EFCC is said to be investigating the agency based on a petition alleging fraud submitted to it on activities carried out at the agency from 2012 till date.
