January 07, (THEWILL) – The Cross River State governor Professor Ben Ayade has advised the opposition People’s Democratic Party in the state against engaging in beer parlour gossip.
The governor insisted that rather, the party should focus on solving the hydra-headed problems within its fold.
Professor Ayade made this known in a release made available by his Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Linus Obogo.
The governor’s reaction was titled; “PDP shameless rehash of falsehood”.
Ayade’s reaction follows a statement authored by the Cross River State PDP Publicity Secretary Mike Ojisi and titled “On Ayade’s #100Billion Loot And The Incoherence Of His Political Vuvuzela”.
The PDP in the statement which was widely circulated locally and published on an online medium alleged the governor looted “our state treasury to the tune of over N100 billion using three private companies, close family members and allies”.
While throwing a swipe at the Cross River PDP, the governor said the party has morphed into a tower of babel.
According to the governor, “To underscore the party’s shallowness, which reinforces its laziness to engage in thorough research, it made no pretence in aping exactly the inconsistencies of a news platform that is grossly deficient in integrity and objectivity.
“It is no surprise then that the party could lend itself to what could best be described as a by-product of beer parlour gossip.
“Rather than dissipate energy trying to impeach the character of Governor Ayade and his government, as a civil and serious minded government, we like to urge the PDP to concentrate on solving the hydra-headed and multi-faceted problems in its fold.
“These are the abnegation of its zoning principle which is clearly entrenched in the party constitution, but is threatening to tear it apart, the internecine wrangling within its fold and how to abate the fast depletion of members.
“For a party that has literally morphed into a tower of Babel, with members at variance with one another over issues of justice, equity and fairness, its preoccupation at this point in time should not be about vending falsehood, but addressing the aforementioned concerns”, the governor said.
The governor said the State PDP lifted trash from an online medium in its attempt to tarnish his image and in executing its hatchet job, failed to do due diligence by pushing gossip to the public space as a scoop.
The governor added that the allegation is a vapid and worthless piece of empty petition authored by the same self-destruct party that has been flying around since July last year and which the responsible news media consigned to the trashcan because of irreconcilable inconsistencies therein.
