My Abductors Asked For My Blessings – Freed Akwa Ibom Cleric

May 02, (THEWILL) – The founder of Solid Rock Kingdom Church, Apostle John Okoriko, who was abducted in his residence, at Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, has said that two of the five-man gang, who abducted him had knelt down before him to seek for prayers before he was released.

Narrating his experience in the hands of his abductors to church members on Sunday, Okoriko said the kidnappers tortured him more than necessary, so that he could accept to pay N100 million ransom, but such money was not within his reach.

“The torture was much, they did terrible things on my body to force me to bring money to them. I told them I have not seen such money in my entire life.

“They told me I am the “Adeboye”, (the richest pastor closer to them) in Akwa Ibom.

“I pray for two out of them who needed my prayers. They did all manner of things to me. Out of the five-man gang that abducted me, two of them knelt down and asked me to pray for them before they released me in the evening to go.”

Apostle Okoriko appreciated the former Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria and Prelate of Methodist Church, Sunday Mbang and founder of Believers Assembly, Apostle Isaiah Isong, for the roles they played to secure his freedom from the abductors.

He said they set up a prayer team where many people prayed for him including some International Organisations, who suspended programmes to pray for him.

Okoriko said the first place he visited was the capitol ground of his church, because it was closer to the kidnappers den before he proceeded to show himself to Prelate Sunday Mbang, the following morning as he had dreamt about the man of God immediately he was released.

“That night, I saw my father who died in 1990 sitting in a place like a court session with great men and women. When he talked to me, he turned to Prelate Sunday Mbang.

“In the morning, I showed myself to Prelate Mbang and prostrated before him and told him my experiences. Quoting the scripture from psalm 129: 2, I told Prelate Mbang that from my youths people have attacked me, but they could not prevail over me.”

He explained that he had wanted to plan a Thanksgiving Service, but Prelate Mbang asked him to stay action, as he will partner with the state government for an elaborate state organised Thanksgiving Service in his honour.

“The father of faith in Akwa Ibom will plan a Thanksgiving Service on my behalf. They will plan a statewide Thanksgiving on a date to be announced”, he said.
