October 30, (THEWILL) – MTN Nigeria has introduced Y’ello Y’Fi, a managed technology solution designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) improve customer engagement, gather business insights and manage their internet networks.

The platform combines Wi-Fi connectivity with digital tools that allow businesses to understand customer behaviour, personalise interactions and monitor network usage through a single offering.

The launch comes as SMEs face growing pressure to retain customers and compete in an increasingly digital marketplace, where access to customer data and effective engagement strategies can influence business performance.

Chief Enterprise Business Officer at MTN Nigeria, Lynda Saint-Nwafor, said the solution was developed to address the needs of businesses that require more than internet connectivity to grow.

“Small businesses need more than connectivity to compete and grow. They need tools that help them understand their customers, improve engagement, and make smarter decisions,” she said.

Saint-Nwafor added that Y’ello Y’Fi would give SMEs access to branded digital experiences, actionable insights and network controls, making digital solutions more accessible to businesses.

Customer insights and targeted marketing

Y’ello Y’Fi allows businesses to customise their Wi-Fi login pages with their brand identity, creating an additional point of interaction with customers.

Through these pages, SMEs can collect customer information, manage connected devices and run promotional campaigns. The platform also provides real-time analytics on customer behaviour, usage patterns and preferences.

The data can help businesses identify how customers interact with their services and use those insights to refine marketing campaigns, improve customer retention and develop more targeted engagement strategies.

For businesses such as hotels, restaurants, retail outlets, and other customer-facing establishments, the platform creates an opportunity to use guest Wi-Fi beyond providing internet access.

However, the commercial value of the insights will depend on how effectively businesses interpret and apply the information gathered through customer interactions.

Network control and operational efficiency

Beyond customer engagement, the platform provides tools for managing network traffic, users, devices, and bandwidth.

Businesses can maintain separate access channels for employees and guests, allowing them to monitor usage and allocate network resources more efficiently.

The separation is also intended to strengthen network security by limiting access to internal business systems while providing customers with internet connectivity.

MTN said the solution would improve network management, security and customer experience while helping businesses optimise their operations.

The launch expands the telecommunications company’s enterprise technology offerings as Nigerian SMEs increasingly adopt digital tools to support daily operations and customer relationships.

MTN Nigeria, which began operations in the country in 2001, says it connects more than 89.5 million people nationwide.

The company is positioning solutions such as Y’ello Y’Fi as part of its broader effort to provide businesses with digital services beyond traditional telecommunications connectivity.
