February 25, (THEWILL) – West Ham produced a stunning second-half performance to secure a much-needed 4-0 victory against Nottingham Forest.
David Moyes’ substitutions proved decisive and his tactical changes paid off as the Hammers moved out of the English Premier League bottom three, energised by a three-minute brace by Danny Ings.
West Ham had struggled to create clear-cut chances in the first half, with Forest defending resolutely. However, Moyes rallied his troops during the interval, and the breakthrough came just a minute into the second half when Ings turned home Bowen’s low cross. Two minutes later, Ings bundled in Benrahma’s centre and Declan Rice added to the rout with a stunning curling effort.
Michail Antonio came off the bench to score a fourth within sixty seconds of his introduction. Moyes will be delighted with the result, which marked his 250th Premier League win and puts him in the illustrious company of Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsène Wenger.
For Forest, it was a day to forget, with Steve Cooper’s side lacking intent and creativity. They defended well for large parts of the game but ultimately could not withstand West Ham’s second-half onslaught. West Ham are next up against Manchester United in the FA Cup on Wednesday, while Forest plays Everton in the EPL on Sunday.
