January 31, (THEWILL) – Ligue 1 club Nice have announced the signing of Super Eagles’ striker, Terem Moffi, from French club Lorient on the final day of the transfer window.

Nice beat southern rival Marseille for the services of the 23-year-old prolific striker, who signed a loan deal with an obligation to make it permanent. Moffi has been one of the best players in the league this season with 12 goals, putting him second on the scoring chart.

The Nigerian international arrived in Ligue 1 in 2020 after stints in Lithuania and Belgium. He has scored 35 goals in 90 matches with Lorient and his impressive form attracted interest from Marseille, who was reportedly looking to sign him as part of a swap deal for Bamba Dieng.

However, Moffi opted for Nice, who are pleased to have secured his signature. Nice President, Jean-Pierre Rivère, expressed delight at Moffi’s determination to sign for Nice, saying “it’s an investment that matches our ambitions.”

Moffi could start as soon as Sunday, against Marseille, who turned their focus to Braga striker. Marseille has already reinforced their midfield with the arrival of Morocco international, Azzedine Ounahi, from Angers.
