Moffi On Target As Resilient Nice Beat Toulouse To Stay In Title Race

November 26, (THEWILL) – Nice kept the pressure on Ligue 1 leaders Paris St Germain by grinding out a narrow 1-0 home victory over Toulouse on Sunday, via a Terem Moffi goal. The win leaves Nice second in the table, just one point behind PSG and as the only unbeaten side remaining in France’s top division.

Toulouse started brightly and had an early goal ruled out for a foul. However, Nice grew into the game, with manager Francesco Farioli bringing on Alexis Claude-Maurice at half-time to change the momentum.

The breakthrough came in the 54th minute when Morgan Sanson played a neat pass into the path of Nigerian striker, Terem Moffi, who slotted home his fourth league goal of the campaign.

Toulouse almost equalised late on through substitute Ibrahim Cissoko but veteran defender Dante made a vital last-ditch block. His central defensive partner Khephren Thuram-Ulien then heroically booted the ball away to ensure Nice recorded an eighth straight domestic clean sheet this season.

The hard-fought victory leaves ambitious Nice well-placed to push cash-rich PSG all the way in an intriguing Ligue 1 title race as Le Championnat approaches the midway point of the 2023/2024 season.
