February 15, (THEWILL) – Terem Moffi, the Nigerian striker, who transferred to OGC Nice from Lorient, has been praised by the club’s Sporting Director, Florent Ghisolfi, for turning down several lucrative offers.
THEWILL recalls that Moffi rejected a chance to play in the English Premier League, despite West Ham United matching Lorient’s asking price for the 23-year-old. He also declined a move to Marseille, who promised him the coveted number 9 jersey.
Moffi’s eventual transfer to OGC Nice was one of the dramas of the January transfer window. The club had been interested in signing him as soon as the window opened, but their offers were deemed insufficient by Lorient, who valued the Nigerian at 30 million euros.
Ghisolfi revealed that the negotiation process was “long and complicated,” with big English clubs and Marseille vying for Moffi’s signature. In the end, Moffi stood by his decision to join OGC Nice, despite the lucrative offers from other clubs. Ghisolfi said that it was a “big signal” sent to the club and praised Moffi’s conviction in wanting to play for Nice.
Although he has yet to score a goal for his new club, Moffi’s commitment and loyalty to OGC Nice have already made him a fan favourite.
