October 27, (THEWILL) – British model and Tiktoker, Modou Adams, who flaunts his globe-trotting lifestyle on social media, has been sentenced to about seven years in prison for attempting to smuggle cocaine out of Peru.
On September 30, authorities apprehended the 25-year-old model at Jorge Chávez International Airport as he attempted to board a flight. Almost three kilograms of cocaine were discovered concealed in his suitcase, revealed in surveillance footage where an officer is seen cutting into the false backing of Adams’ luggage.
Later on the same day, the model was arrested. According to a court statement, the drugs were intended for London. The Peruvian Supreme Court, on X, formerly known as Twitter, shared an edited image of the online influencer behind bars following his sentencing.
It said that the model was jailed for having “coordinated the shipment of about 3kg of cocaine to London”.
The drugs were discreetly concealed at the rear of the model’s suitcase and were estimated at £300,000.
During the search, the model feigned surprise upon its discovery.
The apex court added that Adams admitted to being guilty of the drug trafficking charge and incurred a fine of £1,500.
Lincoln Fuentes, an anti-drug prosecutor, told local media that “it was not the first time the model had taken drugs out of the country”.
The model had reportedly arrived in Peru a few days earlier and posted on social media about a visit to Machu Picchu, a popular tourist destination on the Inca Trail but his Tiktok account has been deleted.
