May 15, (THEWILL) – In a series of successful operations, troops from the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have dealt a significant blow to Boko Haram’s capabilities in the Lake Chad Basin region.
This was disclosed by Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Chief Public Information Officer, N’djamena, Chad, in a statement on Wednesday,
Abdullahi said as part of Operation Lake Sanity 2, troops from Sector 2 MNJTF ambushed and neutralised a terrorist on Litri Island, recovering an AK 47 rifle, ammunition, and other items.

He also disclosed that troops from Sector 3 of the MNJTF, in a separate operation, disrupted a logistics movement by Boko Haram in the Burwarti area of Kukawa LGA, Borno State, recovering several items, including two motorcycles, one Baofeng radio, and food supplies.
Abdullahi said a follow-up clearance operation led to the interception of a civilian vehicle carrying a suspect on the watch list, who was detained for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the Nigerien Gendarmerie in Sector 4 MNJTF seized petroleum products concealed in sacks of maize cereals, thwarting an attempt to smuggle supplies to terrorist groups in the region.
These collective efforts have significantly undermined the logistical and operational capabilities of terrorists in the Lake Chad Basin, demonstrating the MNJTF’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and restoring peace and security to the region.
