August 10, (THEWIILL) – Kylian Mbappe plans to stay at Paris Saint-Germain this summer, rather than join Real Madrid according to reports monitored by THEWILL from France on Thursday.
The 24-year-old striker has decided to remain at the Parc des Princes for the upcoming season, irrespective of the outcome. PSG had insisted that they would sell Mbappe if he did not sign a new contract, to prevent losing him for nothing. However, the France international remains firm in his intention to play out his current deal before potentially leaving on a free transfer in 2024.
Mbappe was apparently upset that PSG did not finalise deals for Robert Lewandowski and Bernardo Silva as he was led to believe last year, and had made up his mind to not extend his contract. However, there are indications that if he fails to ink a fresh contract, he will likely be marginalised by Les Parisiens ahead of an important season.
PSG have started rebuilding under new manager Luis Enrique after parting ways with Christophe Gaultier. With Lionel Messi leaving for Inter Miami, PSG have been active in the transfer market under director Luis Campos.
Notable transfers around le Parc des Princes include new arrivals Manuel Ugarte, Marco Asensio, Arnau Tenas, and Milan Skriniar. Mauro Icardi and Sergio Ramos have also departed, while Neymar is also rumoured to be on the verge of leaving after falling out of favour with the club.
