Mbappe Makes History With Five-Goal Performance In PSG’s 7-0 Rout Of Pays De Cassel

January 24, (THEWILL) – Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe became the first player in the club’s history to score five goals in a single match as they cruised into the last 16 of the Coupe de France with a 7-0 win over sixth-tier side Pays de Cassel on Monday.

The match took place at Stade Bollaert-Delelelis, located in the city of Lens, in the region of Pas-de-Calais and although Pays de Cassel showed valiant efforts to put together some intricate passing moves, PSG’s vastly superior levels prevail. The opener arrived in the 29th minute as Mbappe met Nuno Mendes’ cut-back and found the net via a significant deflection.

He then released Neymar to make it 2-0, the Brazilian dazzling the defence with his quick feet before firing left-footed through goalkeeper Romain Samson’s legs. Mbappe brought up his hat trick with a pair of sumptuous chips before halftime.

The second half saw more great work by Neymar, which left Carlos Soler to backheel over the line from a couple of yards out, and Mbappe completed the scoring with another poacher’s effort from Soler’s cross 11 minutes from time.

The victory ensured PSG’s progress to the last 16 of the competition ahead of their Ligue 1 match against Reims at the Parc des Princes next Sunday at 8:45 pm local time.
