Matawalle Imposes Curfew On Zamfara, Shuts Down Schools Indefinitely – See Why

September 01, (THEWILL) – Zamfara State governor, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew throughout the 14 local government areas in the state.

The Governor has also announced the immediate closure of all schools (private and public) operating in all the local governments of the state.

The curfew is from eight o’clock in the evening to seven o’clock in the morning.

The measure is part of an urgent effort to contain rising insecurity in the State, after bandits invaded Kaya town in Maradun Local Area of the state on Wednesday morning.

THEWILL reports an unspecified number of pupils and teachers were abducted from the Government Day Secondary School, Kaya, in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Wednesday.

The school, according to an indigene of the area, Abu Kaya, has about 300 students, a large number of whom were kidnapped by the bandits who had arrived the school at about 11:00 A.M, when the school was in session.
