June 17, (THEWILL) – Gunmen suspected to be bandits, have reportedly kidnapped an unspecified number of residents of Zurmi village in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
THEWILL reports that the bandits invaded the village on Thursday and kidnapped many villagers.
A resident of the community, who pleaded anonymity, said the bandits stormed the village around 10 pm and started shooting sporadically into the air.
He noted that the gunmen didn’t kill anybody because they clearly wanted to abduct the villagers.
“Though they didn’t kill anybody, they abducted an unidentified number of people during the operation. Just three days ago, they killed one person and rustled cattle”, he said.
The State Police Command is yet to respond to the incident as at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, the Adamawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of six suspects in connection to the Guyuk and Lamurde Local Government Areas bloody clashes that claimed some lives.
The command, in its effort to bring an end to the lingering clashes in the neighborhood of the LGAs, apprehended about six suspects in connection to the clashes.
The clashes so far claimed lives of innocent citizens, while properties worth millions were destroyed.
The arrested suspects include: Honga Bulus, 20 and Abdulsalam Shaibu, 18, residents of Boshikiri in Guyuk LGA.
Others are; Shitu Garba, 25, Abubakar Hamman,48, Sale Umar, 26, Ayuba Idi, 28, residents of Lafiya, Lamurde LGAs.
The arrest of the suspects was contained in a statement issued by the Spokesperson of the Adamawa Police Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje.
