Man Utd To Be Without Casemiro For Crucial Matches After Second Straight Red Card

March 12, (THEWILL) – Manchester United will be without their midfield talisman, Casemiro, for their next few games after the former Real Madrid man was shown a straight red card in their match against Southampton.

Casemiro’s offending foot appeared to deflect off the top of the ball before making contact with Carlos Alcaraz, but Man Utd’s appeal is unlikely to succeed. The Brazilian had only been sent off for two yellow card offences before arriving in England, but has now received two straight reds in his last three English Premier League appearances.

As this is Casemiro’s second straight red card of the season, he will be forced to sit out four matches instead of the usual three-match ban. The next domestic game in which he can feature for Man Utd will be on April 15 at Nottingham Forest. Although he will not be able to play in the upcoming FA Cup quarter-final game against Fulham, he will be available for the UEFA Europa League game against Real Betis this week.

Man Utd’s upcoming games will see them face Newcastle United, who are still hopeful of finishing in the top four, and Brentford, who beat them 4-0 in August. Casemiro will then complete his suspension in the home game against Everton, which is currently scheduled for April 8.

Even if the suspension does not prevent him from playing in the Europa League, it will be a blow for Man Utd as they try to maintain their position in the EPL while trying to maintain their progress in the FA Cup.
