November 02, (THEWILL) – A knock sustained by Manchester United winger, Antony, which he did not recover from early enough, has seen him left out of the Red Devils’ crucial UEFA Europa League match against Real Sociedad on Thursday.
Another big name missing from the lineup is Jadon Sancho, whose absence from the contest is due to illness.
Antony, who has been a consistent starter in every game since his £86 million purchase from Ajax, missed the weekend victory against West Ham due to the knock. Manager Erik ten Hag had hoped to have the 22-year-old available, but Antony did not recover in time.
While Victor Lindelof returned from illness in time to play, Anthony Martial, who had only recently resumed full training, has been left out of the team, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who had been sidelined for more than two months due to injury, is also back.
