Man Utd Seek Cut-Price Exodus For Underperforming Duo

January 22, (THEWILL) – Manchester United are reportedly actively looking to cut their losses on underperforming duo Antony and Jadon Sancho. According to an Evening Standard report, the Red Devils have offered both players to clubs in Saudi Arabia in hopes of securing bids of around £50 million each.

United originally signed Sancho for £73 million in 2021 and Antony for £86 million in 2022. However, neither player has lived up to their lofty transfer fees. Sancho was sent on a six-month loan to Borussia Dortmund in January without an option to buy, while Antony remains at Old Trafford and is still part of Erik ten Hag’s squad though he is not a regular.

Seeking to recover some of their substantial investment, United have proposed the out-of-favour attackers to Saudi Arabian sides. The Evening Standard states that United would be willing to accept combined fees of approximately £100 million, swallowing a £59 million total loss.

Talks are expected to intensify in the summer window. United’s director of football recently met with Saudi officials at the Club World Cup to lay the groundwork for potential deals. Other names floated have been Casemiro and Raphael Varane.

While expensive January signings may be limited in Saudi Arabia, there is likely to be a renewed push for top European talent this summer. Antony and Sancho would undoubtedly be the highest-profile names potentially available. Their futures at Old Trafford look increasingly bleak after failing to justify their hefty price tags.
