Man City could face double relegation.
October 19, (THEWILL) – Manchester City are facing a major points deduction that could guarantee their relegation from the Premier League as a punishment for breaching financial regulations.
It would be recalled that an independent commission found City guilty of 114 of the 115 charges brought against them by the Premier League in September.
The financial violations covered nine years between 2009 and 2018, but Man City have persistently maintained that they are innocent.
The club filed an appeal against the ruling earlier this month.

According to the Daily Mail, those close to the case believe the club are facing a hefty points deduction that would inevitably see them drop out of the top flight, alongside a considerable financial penalty.
It is further suggested that City could be handed an additional points deduction that would effectively keep them in the second tier for a further season.
This would effectively trap the club in the second tier for a minimum of two or more years, regardless of their performance on the pitch during that time.

Although the EFL would not automatically be required to accept an additional punishment affecting City in the Championship, it could agree to such an arrangement.
Such a move would be designed to strip away the advantages gained during the period of the alleged breaches, forcing a complete structural and financial rebuild at the Etihad Stadium.
It is a scenario that would have seemed impossible just a few years ago but now appears to be a genuine possibility according to the Daily Mail.
The Premier League is eager to finalise and announce these penalties before the club’s official appeal process is fully concluded.
A final ruling is anticipated in early 2027, due to strict deadlines outlined within the Premier League’s regulations.
Manchester City won a total of eight trophies during the years under review.
