Man City End Winless Run With Comeback Win Over Luton

December 10, (THEWILL) – Manchester City had to come from behind to defeat Luton Town 2-1 away from home on Sunday afternoon. The result brought an end to City’s four-game winless run in the English Premier League.

City manager Pep Guardiola had warned pre-match that Luton would be difficult opponents, especially playing at home. His prediction proved correct initially, as the home side took a shock 1-0 lead right on the stroke of half-time courtesy of a header from Elijah Adebayo.

Guardiola was furious as the teams went into the break, remonstrating vigorously with officials. However, the introduction of Rodri early in the second half helped turn the tide for City. The Spanish midfielder barged his way through Luton’s defence before laying the ball off for Bernardo Silva to equalise.

Just three minutes later, City completed the comeback via a Jack Grealish strike on the counterattack. The visitors were able to hold on for the final 30 minutes, despite some nervous moments, sealing a vital 2-1 victory.

The win keeps City within four points of EPL leaders Liverpool as they attempt to retain their title. They will need to build momentum after an inconsistent run of late if they are to leapfrog Aston Villa and Arsenal and overhaul the Reds.
