May 20, (THEWILL) – The football licences of newly-invited Super Eagles defender, Isah Ali and striker, Andy Okpe, have been revoked, following their indictment in a match-fixing incident in the Ghanaian Premier League.
Both players, who used to play for Inter Allies in the Ghanaian Premier League, were found guilty of agreeing to manipulate a match between Inter Allies and Ashanti Gold in the Ghanaian top flight.
On Friday, the LMC declared that both players’ registrations had been invalidated and that they were no longer eligible to participate in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).
The LMC statement read: “Remo Stars duo of Isah Ali & Andy Okpe have been disqualified with immediate effect from featuring in the NPFL following the cancellation of their registration.
“The cancellation of both players’ registration comes on the back of the review of their documents which failed to provide critical details about their status.”
