BEVERLY HILLS, June 25, (THEWILL) – Thumbs up for Liverpool FC after it became English Premier League champions, salivating for 30 agonizing years without the domestic title. The last time it won it was in the 1989-90 season. It had not won the league since the modern era was launched in 1992.
The club secured the title on Thursday after second placed Manchester City fell 1-2 to fourth placed Chelsea. City needed a win to remain in the title race with Liverpool which has 86 points. City had 63 ahead of today’s game.
Liverpool being crowned champions is remarkable with just 31 games and winning 28 of it. As at today, the team had lost just one game all season, and sit 23 points clear of second place Manchester City.
