February 22, (THEWILL) – On Tuesday evening at Anfield, Liverpool suffered their worst ever European home defeat, as they were brutally crushed 5-2 by Real Madrid to leave them facing another European exit after meeting Los Blancos.

Despite a promising start that saw early goals from Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah, Liverpool were unable to maintain the lead, as Real Madrid staged a remarkable comeback with two goals each from Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema, and a header from Eder Militao.

The first half was marked by several goalkeeper errors, with Liverpool taking advantage of Real Madrid’s mistakes to score two early goals. However, Real Madrid quickly regained their footing, with Vinicius Junior’s sublime curling shot and fortuitous goal leveling the score.
