Liverpool Midfielder Fabinho Omitted From Pre-Season Tour Amid Transfer Talks

July 15, (THEWILL) – Liverpool midfielder, Fabinho, will not be joining the squad for their pre-season tour in Germany, as the Brazilian has been presented with an opportunity to move to Al Ittihad.

Al Ittihad, the reigning Saudi Pro League champions, have already made significant signings this summer, including Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, and Jota. Fabinho has expressed his interest in the move, and negotiations are currently ongoing. Meanwhile, another Liverpool midfielder, Jordan Henderson, has travelled with the team despite also receiving an offer from Saudi Arabia.

Henderson is being targeted by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, who has taken charge of Al Ettifaq ahead of next season. The captain is reportedly contemplating the move, despite Jurgen Klopp’s desire to retain his services. Their 32-man squad for the pre-season tour completely excluded Fabinho. Talks are still underway regarding his potential transfer to Al Ittihad, which seems to have captured the midfielder’s attention.

In the case of Henderson, the Liverpool captain’s decision is yet to be determined, as he mulls over the opportunity presented by Gerrard. Klopp, however, has not hidden his desire to retain Henderson, highlighting the importance of his leadership within the team. His inclusion in the pre-season tour is part of this resolve to retain him.

Also in the Liverpool pre-season squad are notable names such as Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and new signing, Alexis Mac Allister. Joel Matip, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Conor Bradley, Thiago, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ibrahima Konate, Stefan Bajcetic, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo, and Diogo Jota also made the squad.
