Leicester Face Transfer Challenge Ahead Of New EPL Season

August 02, (THEWILL) – As rivals try to pounce on Leicester City’s key players on the eve of the English Premier League season, the club is worried that their financial situation may push them into panic purchases for possible replacements.

The COVID-19 pandemic’s financial aftereffects and a lack of high-profile sales have precluded first-team investment, making The Foxes the only club in the top level without a new signing this summer.

Club manager Brendan Rodgers was anxious to make improvements during the transfer window, but as they get ready to face Brentford at home to open the season on Sunday, he is now having second thoughts about the long-term prospects of many key players.

Leicester has reportedly received a club-record second offer from Newcastle United for Leicester playmaker James Maddison. Although Leicester has already rejected the Magpies’ initial offer, they remain adamant on signing the 25-year-old midfielder.

According to reports, Maddison is considering moving to the north east, and Newcastle has put Leicester to the test with a second offer that would surpass the £40 million they paid Hoffenheim for Joelinton in July 2019.
