Leicester City Midfielder Ndidi To Miss Nigeria’s World Cup Qualifiers

November 02, (THEWILL) – Leicester City manager, Enzo Maresca, has confirmed that midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, will miss Nigeria’s upcoming 2023 World Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe due to injury. Maresca revealed that Ndidi will be unavailable until after the international break in November on the advice of the club’s medical team.

The 26-year-old has already missed Leicester’s recent Championship matches against Sunderland and Queens Park Rangers. He is now set to be sidelined for the club’s upcoming fixtures against Leeds United and Middlesbrough as he recovers from a muscular issue.

Ndidi’s absence comes as a blow to Nigeria, who are facing an injury crisis ahead of the World Cup qualifiers. Forwards Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze, are doubts due to injuries, while defender, Zaidu Sanusi, is unavailable.

Glo

Super Eagles manager, Jose Peseiro, is concerned about the fitness of other key players like Bruno Onyemaechi and Semi Ajayi, just two weeks before the meeting with Lesotho. He will be hoping for good news in time for Nigeria’s crucial trip to Zimbabwe on 20 November.

Leicester boss, Maresca, confirmed Ndidi’s status, saying: “Wilf will be out until the international break. It is also a muscular problem. Even if it’s small, it’s always one week or two weeks because we don’t want to take any risks.”
