February 02, (THEWILL) – Leeds United has suffered a setback with the news that striker Rodrigo Moreno, will be out of action for up to two months.
The Spanish international suffered an ankle injury during Leeds’ FA Cup fourth-round win against Accrington Stanley last Saturday. The injury will likely cause Rodrigo to miss eight English Premier League games, including two important fixtures against Manchester United.
As the club’s top scorer this season, with 12 goals in 22 games, Rodrigo’s absence will be a big loss for Leeds. The club’s medical team has confirmed that the 31-year-old suffered bone and ligament damage as a result of a challenge, and underwent minor surgery. Despite this setback, the medical team at Thorp Arch is confident that Rodrigo will return next month.
The injury news comes at a time when Leeds United is struggling for form in the Premier League. Jesse Marsch’s men are currently 15th in the league and have only won two of their last 16 games. With their last win coming against Bournemouth on November 5, the absence of their top scorer will be a tough challenge for the team.
However, the club will be hopeful that Rodrigo will be back in action in time for their trip to league leaders Arsenal in April.
