Leeds Fire Marsch After String Of Poor Results

February 06, (THEWILL) – Leeds United has announced the sacking of Jesse Marsch as the head coach after just under a year in charge.

THEWILL recalls that Marsch joined the club in February 2022 when they were in 16th place, and his efforts helped them finish 17th in the English Premier League last season. However, the club has struggled this season and is currently in 17th place, level on points with Everton in 18th and just three above Southampton at the bottom of the table.

The club’s recent 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest on Sunday was the final straw, leading to Marsch’s dismissal. Leeds have not won a league game in over three months and have won only four matches this season. Marsch spoke after the loss, acknowledging the team’s struggles and saying, “I have to find a way to turn good performances into winning.”

Leeds have two crucial fixtures this week, facing rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday night and again at Elland Road on Sunday. The team will need to rally and find a way to turn their fortunes around as they strive to climb up the EPL table.

The club has not yet announced a replacement for Marsch, and it remains to be seen what direction they will take in their search for a new head coach.
