October 08, (THEWILL) – Brighton and Hove Albion and Liverpool played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Amex Stadium on Sunday, with Lewis Dunk’s late volley securing a share of the spoils for the home side.
Roberto De Zerbi rang the changes after Brighton’s European exertions but his side impressed, dominating the early exchanges. Chances fell for Joao Pedro and Carlos Baleba before Simon Adingra pounced to score.
The Seagulls took a surprise lead midway through the first half when Alexis Mac Allister’s error gifted the ball to Adingra, who slotted home past Alisson Becker. However, Liverpool turned it around before the break – Mohamed Salah levelling after a neat Harvey Elliott pass before converting a penalty after Pascal Gross fouled Dominik Szoboszlai.
Jurgen Klopp’s men spurned chances to extend their lead in the second period, with Ryan Gravenberch striking the bar, before Brighton’s pressure told. Dunk smashed in from Solly March’s free kick with 12 minutes left to earn the hosts a deserved point.
Liverpool capitalised on errors to go into the lead but Brighton’s second half display warranted a share of the spoils. Adingra and Pedro missed big chances to win it late on in an end-to-end contest that saw both sides finish with a share of the points.
