Late Concertgoer’s Sister Calls Out Asake Over Tribute Video

August 21, (THEWILL) – Racheal Ikumelo, sister of late concertgoer, Rebecca Ikumelo, has called out Ahmed Ololade, professionally known as Asake, for staging another concert nine months after the tragic death of her sister.

Asake, in 2022, staged a sold-out concert at the O2 Academy, Brixton. While fans were trying to forcefully enter the O2 Arena without purchasing tickets, some attendees sustained several degrees of injuries during a stampede.

Ikumelo, a mother of two, was unfortunately among the victims. She died in the hospital as a result of the injuries she sustained.

Asake called her family after the unfortunate incident to sympathize with them and paid tribute to her on social media.

The singer staged another concert at the O2 Arena last night and he paid another tribute to Ikumelo and Gabrielle Hutchinson, the two people who died as a result of the stampede at his concert in 2022.

A video was played showing the pictures of the deceased. A minute silence was also observed by the fans in attendance.

Not satisfied with all Asake has done, Racheal took to X to call out the singer. She accused him of not reaching out to her family since the incident happened.

She also slammed him for using her sister’s image without their permission and the fact that he is staging another concert a few months after the unfortunate incident.

“What a sorry excuse of a tribute from @asakemusik. My sister lost her life at your show and you haven’t spoken to a single member of my family since. But you can hold another concert in London less than 9 months later and play her videos as a tribute? RIP Rebecca Ikumelo,” she tweeted.
