February 09, (THEWILL) – Simon Lalong, Governor of Plateau State, is troubled and unsettled, not just over Governor Nyesom Wike’s impressive and colourful visit to Plateau State today, but the decision of the Rivers State Governor to be in Court with former governor, Jonah Jang, as his case with the EFCC came up for adjudication Tuesday.
Governor Nyesom Wike, who arrived the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Heipang, as early as 9am to the warm reception of Plateau PDP leadership and big wigs, made no mistakes about his mission and the political environment in Plateau State, as he drove straight to the State High Court premises and straight into the courtroom, where he joined Jang and his team of defence attorneys.
Being a lawyer himself, Wike’s arrival and presence in Court added sobriety to the prevailing solemn atmosphere, as he was professionally dressed in a black Italian suit with a white shirt and tie to match.
No sooner did the news filter into downtown Wike’s presence on Jos, than Lalong’s Commissioner for lands and survey, Yakubu Dati, published an online story claiming ‘group’ condemned Wike’s presence in Court. Pundits in Jos immediately established that the “group” is factless and dismissed Dati”s story and action as “cheap sycophancy and unnecessary busy bodying.”
In another dimension, a rattled Governor Lalong also ensured that a detachment of some security and protocol staff from Government House, Jos, performed their duties for the day spying at the High Court premises anxiously from the Jos Zoo end of the area.
With the development in Langtang North on Tuesday, in which a former Chairman of the APC, Latep Dabang, former House of Assembly members, APC State Exco members, and 12,000 others defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party. Lalong was reported to be really worried with possible stress as it was gathered that Governor Wike was at Senator Jerry Useni”s place, and will be meeting with the larger PDP community in the state.
