November 26, (THEWILL) – A Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Waheed Ayilara, has been appointed as Acting Commissioner of Police for the Lagos State Police Command.
DCP Ayilara replaces Idowu Owohunwa, who was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIG) by the Police Service Commission (PSC).
Before his new appointment, Ayilara was the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
A former Commander of MOPOL 2, Lagos, Ayilara was also the Chief Superintendent of Police in charge of Administration (CSPA), Lagos Command.
In 2020, he was transferred to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID).
DCP Waheed, in his charge to officers, has directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in Lagos State to sustain optimum security within their respective domains.
