Our Earlier Story
SAN FRANCISCO, August 27, (THEWILL) – Mr. Festus Odimegwu, the Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), has been suspended from office over alleged mismanagement and unguarded utterances.
Reports reaching THEWILL also indicates that Mr. Odimegwu has been issued a query over his alleged offences by the federal government.
Kano State Governor, Mr. Rabiu Kwankwaso had described Odimegwu’s appointment as a “mistake” and pressed President Goodluck Jonathan to sack him over his continuous denigration of the 2006 census result which approved Kano as the most populous state in the federation.
Odimegwu, a former managing director of Nigeria Breweries plc has since assumption of office earlier in the year ridiculed the result of the census.
