BEVERLY HILLS, June 23, (THEWILL) – A former Governor of Kano State and serving Senator, Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso Saturday night paid a courtesy visit to former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar at his residence in Asokoro, Abuja whilst the national convention of his party, All Progressives Congress, APC, was ongoing at the Eagles Square at the capital.

THEWILL gathered that Kwankwaso arrived Atiku’s residence at about 8.30pm and went into a closed door meeting with the former Vice President. Both men met for about 45 minutes but details of their meeting, were not disclosed.

However, a source with knowledge of the meeting said Kwankwaso’s visit was to pay Sallah homage to Atiku who was not in the country during the Eid El Fitr celebrations.

The source said that both leaders also used the occasion of the visit to discuss the state of the nation.

When contacted, Media aide to Atiku, Mazi Paul Ibe confirmed the visitation but declined to go into details of their meeting.

Multiple calls to the senator’s cell phone were not acknowledged.

Kwankwaso, a member of the aggrieved new Peoples Democratic Party, nPDP caucus of his party was one of the notable faces of the group that did not attend the convention.

THEWILL had previously reported that the politician is interested in the presidency though he is yet to formally declare. Sources close to him told THEWILL that he is fighting for his political life having lost the APC structure in his state to incumbent governor, Ganduje.

Atiku, who formally decamped from the APC back to the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is a frontline presidential aspirant.
