February 21, (THEWILL) – Real Madrid’s midfielder, Toni Kroos, is set to return to the squad just in time for their UEFA Champions League match against Liverpool.
The German veteran had been battling an illness which forced him to miss the past two games, but he has made a timely recovery and is now eligible to play on Tuesday evening.
The news is a huge relief for Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, who had been concerned about his midfield options for the game. Fellow midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni is also suffering from an illness, said to be flu, and will not be available for the match.
Kroos’ return will undoubtedly give Real Madrid a boost, although he will start the match. Ancelotti will go with Luka Modric, Eduardo Camavinga, and Federico Valverde in his starting lineup. However, Kroos’ presence on the bench will provide much-needed depth and experience for the Spanish side.
The first leg of the highly-anticipated round of 176 matchup between this two regular UCL pairing of set to kickoff at 9pm local time at Anfield.
