GTBCO FOOD DRINL

December 03, (THEWILL) – The recent killings of the Traditional ruler of Otulu Amumara autonomous Community in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area, His Royal Highness, Eze Joe Ochulor, The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ahiazu Mbaise, an Inspector of Police and Chieftain of a party in Ife-Akpodim Ward, Mr Chidozie Anyanwu, have continued to spark off concerns amongst residents.

THEWILL recalls that within a space one week, about five men had been murdered at various occasions in Mbaise by hoodlums, which the police have assured to tackle.

Although the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, had disclosed the arrest of eighteen (18) suspects in connection with the crime adding that they are currently undergoing investigation.

This was contained in a release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Imo Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police, (ASP) Okoye Henry.

The CP, in the statement, further said the Command would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that perpetrators of the dastardly act are made to face the full wrath of the law.

“The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Danjuma, has deployed the Command’s Special Tactical squad and equipped them with the necessary operational assets to go all out in collaboration with the Military and hunt down the hoodlums responsible for the attack and killing of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ahiazu Mbaise and an Inspector of Police.

It revealed that its operatives fought gallantly, but unfortunately, the DPO and an Inspector of Police died during a gun duel that ensued, while two Police officers survived the attack.

The command also maintained that it is committed to collaborating with other sister security agencies in providing adequate security for all and sundry in Imo State and pleaded with residents to report any person seen with or treating gunshot injuries within their vicinity.

The developments can be said to have thrown people of the State into untold apprehension even as Christmas festivity is fast approaching.

The CP reiterates the Command’s commitment to collaborating with other sister security agencies in providing adequate security for all and sundry in Imo State and beckons Imolites, in particular residents of Ahaizu Mbaise to report any person seen with or treating gunshot injuries within their vicinity.

Worried by the rising security challenges threatening the country in general and Imo State in particular, a retired Police officer, ASP Emmanuel Ogu, described it as unfortunate, the level at which men of the underworld had taken over virtually everywhere.

Ogu noted that security is everybody’s business irrespective of status and there urged residents to always be security- conscious of their environment.

He commended Imo government under Sen. Hope Uzodimma, for the fight it had fought to combat insecurity.

“The governor should set up a local vigilante. You see, the rural dwellers know who is who within the area. Let the security architecture begins from there.”

He charged the present administration to put in place, the techniques the former governor, Rochas Okorocha, had employed to tackle the challenges of insecurity in the State.

The retired officer also attributed the increasing insecurity in the southeast part of the country to the continued detention of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, saying that his release could abate insecurity.

He, therefore, pleaded with the Governor, Hope Uzodimma, to do his possible best in collaboration with all the security agencies in the State to arrest the ugly situation.
