August 02, (THEWILL) – Security operatives in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State have neutralised a notorious kidnap kingpin in a gun battle on Saturday, July 31.
The kingpin, THEWILL learnt, once abducted his biological father and collected a ransom of N4 million for his release.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Kogi State Governor, Muhammed Onogwu, said the kidnapper was also notorious for his numerous ventures of kidnapping and armed robbery and had always been in the eyes of the law enforcement agencies before he eventually met his waterloo during an encounter with security operatives in the area.
Local residents said he was a seasoned armed robber known to have terrorised people in several areas of the state. They said he had been declared wanted for some time.
In another development, a joint neighborhood watch security operation led by Olamaboro Local Government Chairman, Hon. Adejoh Friday Nicodemus, has apprehended another kidnap agent identified as Kizito Ocheme aka Igbo.
The culprit is said to have terrorised the areas between Olamaboro Local Government and some parts of Ogbadibo Local Government.
He was apprehended while he tried to escape them.
Hon Adejoh, who commended the security team for their bravery, assured that both the Federal and Kogi state governments would continue to make efforts towards sustaining the drive for a peaceful state.
