Kenwright Given Fitting Send-Off As Everton Breeze Past Burnley In Cup Tie

November 02, (THEWILL) – Everton comfortably defeated Burnley 3-0 in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, giving late chairman, Bill Kenwright, the send-off he would have wanted.

Ex-Burnley, duo James Tarkowski and Dwight McNeil, played a major part in the win over their former club. On a night when Everton fans united to honour Kenwright, who passed away last week aged 78, the team marked the occasion fittingly.

Tarkowski headed Everton in front on 13 minutes before Amadou Onana grabbed a second goal after the break. Ashley Young added a late third courtesy of substitute Beto’s assist.

The scoreline flattered Burnley, who have struggled after promotion back to the Premier League. Their much-changed side rarely threatened as Everton, watched by owner Farhad Moshiri, grew in confidence.

The fifth win in seven matches under Sean Dyche leaves Everton growing in confidence. They barely had to extend themselves to reach the quarter-finals and further honour Kenwright with a fitting performance.
