Kelechi Iheanacho Boost For Leicester As Foxes Welcome Red Devils To King Power Stadium

October 10, (THEWILL) – Leicester City, Manchester United’s next Premier League opponents, could be in for a major injury boost ahead of their match next Saturday. On Saturday, October 16, United will face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, with kick-off set for 3 pm local time.

Former Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho, returned to training and featured with his Nigeria Super Eagles’ team-mates on Sunday following an injury scare while on international duty and he might be in position to start for the Foxes.

As THEWILL reported, at halftime during Nigeria’s first leg fixture against the Central African Republic on Thursday evening, the Leicester forward had to be replaced. In the 34th minute, Iheanacho looked to injure himself when taking a shot towards goal.

As a update on the reverse fixture on Sunday, the coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr said: “There will be some changes. Already, there are some injuries and I don’t know if Kelechi is able to play because he had a knock.

“We have some players who are tired because they ran a lot and were fighting as always. This defeat will surely make their recovery more difficult. They will not sleep well tonight but we have to recover and prepare for Sunday’s game which we must win.”

Following the match, however, Iheanacho posted a photo to Instagram that seemed to confirm his return. The striker was photographed during a workout session at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Friday and he started the Sunday reverse leg that Nigeria won 2-0, even though he was not on the scoresheet.

Marcus Rashford and Amadou Diarra have both returned to full training this week, giving United an injury boost of their own ahead of the English Premier League matchday eight encounter at the King Power Stadium.

Rashford had been out of action since the European Championship final due to shoulder surgery, but he returned to full training on Friday, October 1, and participated in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday, and scored a goal too.
