Kano State Govt. Posts SSRs To MDAs To Effect Wider Publicity

September 04, (THEWILL) – Kano State Government says it has posted Senior Special Reporters(SSRs) to the state’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in order to give wider publicity to the activities of the organizations.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, and issued to newsmen in Kano on Monday.

Dawakin Tofa said Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf made the remark during an interactive meeting with his media aides at the Government House,Kano.

He said the media aides include: Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Personal Assistants on Media, Radio, information, Publicity, Public Affairs, Enlightenment, Digital Media, ICT, Social Mobilization, Videography, Photography, and Senior Special Reporters (SSRs).

“You are posted to the MDAs as a back-up to their medium of Information by posting their activities on social media platforms for wider publicity,” Yusuf said.

He urged all the media aides to work hard in giving utmost publicity to the policies and Programmes of his administration in order keep people informed about the government’s activities.

The Governor said his administration “is coming up with multitudes of policies and programmes that have direct bearing on the lives of the people of the state, hence the need to keep them informed.”

He said the appointment of the media aides, therefore,was to enable them contribute their qouta in publicizing these policies and programmes and create awareness among the people on issues pertaining to governance and other information helpful to their well being.

Yusuf also asked the media aides to come up with public enlightenment initiatives, especially against the dangers of drug abuse, especially among women and the youths, and the need to have a society free of social vices.

Earlier, the state Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Baba Halilu Dantiye, said the interactive session was the first of its kind in the administration aimed at bringing the media aides together to brainstorm on ways to improve performance.

Dantiye said Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf would run a transparent government with free flow of information, as it had nothing hide.

He plegded that his ministry would make the work of the new appointees easy and affirmed that Information officers working at the local governments and the MDAs would do likewise to achieve the desired goals set by the administration.
