Kano State Govt.Fumigates Boarding, Qur’anic Schools To Check Malaria,Others

October 12, (THEWILL) – Kano State Government has embarked on massive fumigation and vector control all boarding schools and Tsangaya Qur’anic schools in the state to check the spread of mosquitoes that cause the malaria disease.

The exercise is also aimed at preventing spread of other insects, rodents and reptiles.

This is contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Director Public Enlightenment of the State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change,
Ismaila Garba Gwammaja.

According to the statement,the fumigation exercise is to ensure safe and healthy environment for students of the boarding schools and Tsangaya Qur’anic schools in the state.

The statement said the State Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change,Alhaji Nasiru Sule Garo, launched the fumigation exercise at the Government Technical college, Ungogo.

It quoted Garo as saying that the present administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is giving high priority attention to the environment and climate change sector in the state.

“It is only when you have a good and habitable environment that the health condition of the teeming populace would be protected,” the commissioner said.

He said the exercise would be conducted annually in all boarding schools, Tsangaya and Qur’anic schools in the state “in order to protect our innocent children from mosquitoe bites, insects and reptiles.”

He urged the people of the state to continue to complement government efforts at ensuring clean and healthy environment devoid of wastes.

The Principal of the school, Malam Mika’ilu Usaini, said the exercise would go along way in curtailing the number of sicknesses among the students, and make the environment conducive for teaching and learning.
